About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Do I need to apply Visa-Free Transit?

Hi there,

I am a Vietnamese Passport holder with a Residence Permit for student in Finland

My itinerary ticket is from Helsinki - Moscow - Shanghai - Bangkok. and My trip is like this. From Helsinki to Shanghai (by Aeroflot airplane), My baggage will be sent through Shanghai. But when I will be in Shanghai, I have to pick up and re-check my 15kg baggage again and go to the Departure gate to go the final destination (Bangkok by Thai AirAsia X airplane). I buy 1 whole ticket not separately. I am not sure when I pick up my baggage that I have go through the customs and maybe I should present a free-transit!!!

My question is, Do i have to apply an entry permit if I pick up and recheck my baggage, because I have one more
final destination. If I have to apply my free-transit, where should I do (At the embassy, at the airport or e-Visa), and how much for the fee. I will be layover in Shanghai is 7 hrs 45 min and maybe I will go outside for sightseeing. What type of entry permit should I do? and How long will I receive a visa transit?

Greatly appreciate from your advises.

Thanks for your attention.

Best regards,
Duc Nguyen

You don't need a visa and all you need to do is to clear immigration in Shanghai. Keep your onward ticket receipt handy for inspection.
