Lucio Nguyen from Vietnam. Do I need a visa?

Hi, I will travel from New Zealand to Vietnam in December and I am Vietnam passport holder. I will have 16hrs transit in Shanghai and I want to join a day tour in Shanghai. Do I need to apply any free transit? Am I eligible to use the 24 hour direct transit? What if I want to visit Shanghai, do I have to apply any kind of visa?

Thank you for your support.

Best regards

Hi, you are eligible to use the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai, no visa is needed then. Just apply for a free temporary stay permit at the immigration office when you arrive at the airport, then you can leave there to explore the city. Nice trip!
