About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

HK to China to Home (elsewhere)

Australian citizen living in South Africa. If I fly HK to Guangzhou, then enjoy 72 hrs free transit and depart same city to Home (sth Africa) will this be acceptable. ?
Looking to confirm HK is not considered China for this visa and that the flight out can be to your country of residence?

If you fly Hong Kong-Guangzhou-Another country (not Hong Kong and not China) on non-stop flights then you don't need a visa for 72 hrs in Guangzhou. Only your nationality is relevant, not your residency.
