Entry and duration of visas

Planning a cruise that stops a 3 ports in China then after the cruise I am taking a 10 land tour inside China. How early and what type of entry permit do I need?

Sue, you can apply for a multiple entries tourist L type for that, and you can make the application one month prior to the trip.
