walking beyond tower for simatai great wall 10 allowed?

Is it allowed to walk beyond tower 10 up to Fairy tower from the wall section? Is there Security to send back tourists or is it accepted to do this if you wear propper shoes and equipment?How long does it take from Beijing to the Wall by public bus? There is different information about the time!Thank You

Hey, Lupus, as I know, tourists are not allowed to walk beyond tower 10. Nowadays, only the eastern part from No.1 Tower to No.10 Tower has been opened officially.About the transportation, you can take bus 980 or 980 Express from Dongzhimen Bus Stop to Miyun Bus Station. Then transfer to bus no.Mi 37, Mi 50 or Mi.51 to Simatai Village. Afterwards, just walk to the entrance and the ticket office. Generally speaking, the whole way takes around 3.5 hours.

Hi Lupus.I was at Gubei Water Town & Simatai Great Wall last weekend. Give me your email address and I can email to you the information (actually it was photos cause there is no signage to the bus area) for direct bus from Dongzhimen to Gubei Water Town. I don't think you can go pass tower 10. There's a guard standby just outside the tower 10 after the warning signboard.
