About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Asked by Alan Australia for using the 144 hour free transit in Guangzhou airport .

I would like to travel from Adelaide to Shanghai via Guangzhou airport (China Southern Airlines ) once in Shanghai I would like to visit Yantai by train then return to Shanghai to fly back to Australia via Guangzhou airport using the 144 hour free transit. Is this possible ?

No, it's not possible to use 144 hours free transit because you have more than one stop in China (Guangzhou and Shanghai), which limits you to 24 hours transit unless you have a visa. So either change your plan or get a visa.

Sorry I might of confused you with question, at Guangzho I only tranfer to connecting flight to Shanghai. Not going thru customs in Guangzhou.

It is prohibited for passengers transiting in Guangzhou to leave the sterile transit zone if their transit time is under 24 hours. Hence the multi-stop domestic transit is also banned by Guangzhou immigration. You will transfer to another flight to Shanghai, so you cannot make use of the 24 hr direct transit policy. You are advised to apply for a visa or change your plan.
