November 2017 weekend in Zhangjiajie

We are thinking of visiting ZJJ from Shanghai one weekend in mid November. If we arrive at the airport around 11pm on Friday, will accommodation near Yangjiajie be too far away? This would mean buying the 3-day pass on Saturday so it should be valid all the way through Monday? Will it be advisable to visit both ZJJ and Yangjiajie? Followed by the Canyon or Tianmen? How would the weather be like mid-November, please? And how could one do the Maoyan river drifting if it should be feasible at all? Thank you for your help.

The airport is around 45km from Yangjiajie Scenic Area. You are suggested to take a taxi and it costs CNY100-120. Accommodation is available near entrance and you can ask the driver to drop you off right there.

Since you will see so many sites, it can be wise to visit ZJJ only so that you can well arrange your time. And the ticket valid for three days is only for ZJJ National Forest Park. To visit Tianmenshan and Grand Canyon, you need to pay extra.

It is too early to know the exact weather then. But as per the history data, it can be warm in the day and a little bit cool in the early morning and late night. The average temp can be 12C. There will be cloudy days along with several lightly rainy days.

If your time is ok, take a bus to Wentang County from ZJJ and ask the drver to drop you off at the Maoyan River Dock for drifting. To get back, go to Huayan and take a bus back to ZJJ.
