Is a signature enough for the invitation letter?

My Chinese friend is going to write me an invitation letter for my L visa but as I've been reading it says official stamp and signature. This is an individual in university with no official stamp. Is a signature enough or should it be better if his father with a company writes the invitation letter instead?
