About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

One entry visa

I hold a student X in China shanghai for 6 months (one entry visa). If a travel to Thailand the last week of my period in china and then i go back to china 2 days before my flight to Italy (already scheduled, booked) can I apply for the 72(or 144)hour free transit?
