Hi, I'm planning to teach english in china and my visa is being sorted out by the school. my Long term Boyfriend would like to come with me but doesn't plan to teach. His options are study or trying to find expat jobs (we will know this closer to the time, we arnt moving until sep 2018). Would he be able to get an S1 type or do we need to be married?

If he wants to apply for the S type, you two need to get married first because S type is issued for those who seek for spouse reunion.
