How to use the subway in Guangzhou?

Hello
I have travelled previously there and i had been using cabs. They are really expensive as most of them do not charge on the meter. Maybe because I am not a local.
Can you tell me how to get on to the subway? where to buy the ticket how to get on the train, means on which side. how much does the tickets costs usually.

I am travelling from Pakistan.

Well, you can go to the subway stations to buy the ticket, and the fare depends on the route you choose, ranging CNY2-10.

After you get your tickets, you can swipe it to enter the station to take the subway. When you get in, you can check on the route and make sure which side you should get on. All stations and guiding signs are marked both in Chinese and English. No worry!

By the way, if you’ll stay in the city for a long time, you are suggested to buy a Yang Cheng Tong, which can be used in bus, subway, taxi and 7-11 convenience stores.

Yang Cheng Tong is the local transport card and you can buy it from the Customer Service Center of the subway stations and 7-11 convenience stores.

You can use it as a ticket card and just swipe it at the machine when you get on the subway or bus.

By the way, you can enjoy a 60% discount since the 16th you use the card in bus or metro.
