Renew my Chinese ID card

Can this be done at the Chinese embassy in San Francisco? I currently live in Alaska, USA as a CR-1 immigrant. If I cannot renew my ID at the Chinese embassy in San Francisco, can I provide my brother in China a " power of Attorney" so he can renew it for me?

Hi, I’m afraid you cannot renew Chinese ID card at the Chinese embassy in San Francisco. You need to renew it in China in person.
