About:24-Hour Visa-Free Transit

24 hour direct transit by train

Hi! We are Germans and want to travel by train from Ulan Bator to Beijing and then to Tokyo by plane.
Is it possible for us to get the 24 hour direct transit on the train? How do we get the arrival and departure card?

Vanessa, you can get the 24 hr direct transit by train. You can just get it at the immigration inspection counter in Beijing by bringing your valid passport and onward confirmed tickets. Nice trip!

Border inspection at the international train is done in Erenhot which means that your time in China will be greater than 24 hours, hence you will require a transit visa.
