About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

72 hour free transit without an actual transit

I am planning a less than 72 hour trip to Shanghai that I will be flying from Hong Kong and back to Hong Kong, so does this qualify for the free transit or do I need to get a proper visa?

Emilia, you won’t qualify for the free transit in Shanghai because HK-Shanghai-HK is not a transit. You should apply for a visa for that beforehand.
