Can I visit the Great Wall without a visa?

I'm flying from Brisbane to Beijing with a change of aircraft in Hong Kong

Kim, if you travel like Brisbane-HK-Beijing-another country or region instead of HK, you can use the 72 hour free transit in Beijing. No visa will be needed then.
