Do I have to always buy the ticket online or I can come to counter and buy with cash?

You can buy the ticket at the station counter in cash as well

You can go to the railway station but there are also ticket offices scattered about, though you will have to ask where is the closest one. While the queue is shorter at the ticket office they often don't speak English.
The station ticket office don't have any signs in English - you have to ask to ensure you are in the correct line.
Do check your ticket before leaving - make sure everything is correct.
And yes you need to show your passport (for each traveler)

For CN citizens, they could buy the ticket online, but for travellers ,please go to connter to buy the tickets and show your passport, some staffs could speak English, but some couldn't
