Do I need visa with Malaysia passport

Hi,

I am holding a Malaysia passport that will expired on 4 Jan 2018. Am I permitted to go in Guangzhou city for 22 hours to tour around, during my transit period. I have Canadian permanent resident card. My ticket will be from Vancouver to Guangzhou, with 22 hrs layover in Guangzhou, and then Guangzhou to Penang.

Yes, you need it because you cannot enjoy 24 hr direct transit.
