Hi, I have purchased a small wooden box as a gift for my girlfriend's father.

Generally speaking, if it is not made of rare or valuable materials like sanders, it would be ok to bring with you. Sometimes, you need to declare at the customs.
If possible, you can bring the introduction or other certificates to prove when declaration.
Good luck!
