About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Transit free with actual valid China entry permit

NY to Guangzhou next day to Myanmar then back to Guangzhou. I only have one entry entry-permit to China. Can I use the transit free for the layover from Guangzhou to Myanmar and use actual entry permit for the return?

Yes. You will have to tell the officer (or cover up your visa) to be sure the visa doesn't get used up on your first entry to China.
