will it be a problem with 6 months and about four days left on my passport.

Hi, i am a Nigerian citizen but presently living in ukraine. last year i visited china and loved it and decided to return to study chinese language. The thing is when i applied for the students invitation letter, i had about 8 months left on the passport validity. i could not apply for visa in ukraine so i am going back to nigeria to apply.. when i get to nigeria, i will have 6 months and about four days left on my passport. will it be a problem to apply for the students X type.. i could not renew my passport because the embassy said they will renew only if i had about 3 months left. if i waited till then, i would not have met up with a application deadline for the invitation letter. i contacted my embassy in china and they said they could renew it.
