What is Shanghai like during golden week?

Hello,
I plan 2 nights there during the middle of of the week in a 5* hotel, i am not interested in the big tourist places, instead prefer to explore old shanghai, indie cafes and shops and i will see the bund from my hotel room. Just worriee it is going to be too crowded.

Shanghai will be very crowded during the golden week. You may find tourists gathering in every major attractios, including the Bund. And I am sure both modern and old Shanghai will be of many people. If it is impossible to change the travel plan, do book hotel in advance and depart early for visiting during that time.
