About:China Visa Application in USA

I am traveling to Shanghi and arriving on August 30,2017

I will be getting on a cruise on September 1.2017
Do I need a Visa for that short of time.

If your travel route is country A-Shanghai (144 hours)-country B, you will qualify for the 144 hour free transit. No entry permit will be needed then.
