About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit FAQ

about Transit G type

I intend to fly into Shanghai before boarding a cruise ship the next day Seasky Golden Era to sail to Japan I will then return to Shanghai stay the night then fly out of shanghai the next day can I apply for a transit visa?

Yes, but remember, it is not a transit G type, it's transit without visa. You'll simply get it at the airport.

When you mention you get it at the airport, is it with the airline you travel or an official at Shanghai airport,

Does the fact that I am leaving shanghai via ship make any difference

You'll get it at Shanghai when clearing immigration. Leaving by ship will not make a difference but be sure to bring your travel voucher.
