Question about Visas for China - I'm so confused!

My husband and I would like to travel to Shanghai to see one of his friends compete in a competition. We are US citizens but currently reside in Australia. We will arrive on Wednesday evening and will leave on Monday evening. Does this make us eligible for a VOA or the 144 hour free transit?

Thanks!

Hi, if you travel like Australia-Shanghai-Australia, you cannot use 144 hour free transit in there. You cannot apply for VOA, either. You need to apply for a visa beforehand for that.
