How do I bring lighters out of China

I have several lighters that I've purchased in China as souvenirs for friends back home. As I understand, carrying onboard is not an option, but how about putting it in the check in luggage if I've emptied the lighter of gas?

Or if it isn't possible to bring it with me when I fly out then about mailing it? Is it possible and which postal method should I use?

Sorry, Ken. You are not allowed to bring lighters either in your hand luggage or your checked luggage. And according to the law in China, lighers can not be mailed too, so I suggest you buy some other souveniors for your friends.
