Business visit to GZ - UK citizen, is the 72 hours the absolute maximum?

The conference I am attending will require me to be in GZ approx. 80 hours, is there any flexibility, it would mean arriving 31st July and departing 3rd August which is within 3 days but slightly over the 72 hours stated?

Any help would be appreciated,
