Can I do my own M Visa without letters from a Chinese company?

I have a signed 1 year lease on an apartment and valid passport pages.i am already in mainland China with an expiring x type. How do I transition without paying an agent?

Aa, no, you have to provide an invitation letter from a business partner if you want to apply for an M type.
