About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Malaysian passport transit Guangzhou 7 hours

Hi
I am a Malaysian passport holder and will be on transit in Guangzhou airport for about 7 hours, enroute to Europe . Do I need to apply for a transit visa ?

Do I have to go thru immigration / customs even though I am on transit ?

Hi, you need to apply for a transit G type for that, and you need to go through the immigration.

I would need to research this a bit more. I thought we may qualify for the 24 hour direct transit as we are not planning on leaving the airport.

No, Malaysians are not eligible for the 24h transit at the moment.
