About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

I arrive in Shanghai on Aug. 30 and take a cruise ship to Japan on aug. 31.

The cruise ship will return to Shanghai on Sept 6. Am I eligible for the 144 hour transit visa?

Yes, you are eligible for the 144 hour transit visa in Shanghai. No visa is required for that.
