About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Hi, I've received a job offer from an international firm in Shanghai,

and I'll be issued a work license in a week's time. Since the project needs are urgent, they want me to apply for a tourist L type, and they'll convert it to residence permit as soon as I land there. So, I'll have a work license and a tourist visa when I land there to on-board. Is this a valid way to start working in Shanghai?

if possible, you’d better apply for the work Z type in your home country and then enter China to start working.
If you don’t have enough time, you can also apply for a tourist L type first and then enter China to convert the L type to a work Z type at the exit and entry administration, but I cannot tell you for sure it can be done 100%. Note: you should never work on a tourist L type.
