About:Chinese Embassies and Consulates

Hi I am from Australia. I will fly from Syndey to Shanghai and stay for 2 nights.

After that I will board a cruise to Japan. On the way back , the cruise will stop over in Hong Kong for 10hrs. Do I need to apply for a visa?
Thanks

Nguyen, you don’t need visa for either Shanghai or HK. You can use the 144 hour free transit in Shanghai.
Australian passport holders can enter HK freely for a stay of not more than 90 days.
