What's the best and cost effective way to get to Shanghai from Xian? Air or train, and how many hours?

The fastest way is by flight. The journey only takes around 2 hours. There are also high speed trains available, but the train ride takes about 6-7 hours and the train fare for the second class seat is CNY669.5 per person.
