Extend Q2 Visa living with bio mom

Hi,

I'm going to China in July 2017 to live with my bio mom. My Q2 type allows maximum of 120 days of stay. Can I apply for Temporary Residence when it expires or extend Q2 for longer than 6 month? It's too expensive to go back and forth between China and US every 4 month.
