Computer equipment required for 1 week project (take in and out)

I am a psychologist working as a consultant. For my psychometric test procedures I use a small network of 5 laptops and a little server. I want to take that equipment to China and back again 7 to 10 days later. I wouldn't mind paying any kinds of fees or customs but I have heard that is is simply forbidden to (commercially) use computers bought outside China within China - true? That would mean I have to buy and set up the whole network again in China?

As I know, it will be ok for you to take them. If possible, you'd better show the relative documents, certificates and declare the computer equipment at the custom. :)
