Is food expensive in China? How much would a meal be in Beijing and Shanghai? What would be a good idea of money to bring for food. Trying to work out how much we need. Thank you.

The cost for meals depends on where and what you will eat. For your reference, it normally costs around CNY50-CNY80 per person for one meal at an ordinary restaurant and CNY100 or above at fancy restaurants in Beijing and Shanghai.

It is suggested that you exchange a small amount Chinese currency in your country before leaving. You may also withdraw money from the ATM machines with your Credit Card when you are in China or exchange money at your hotels or banks.
