About:Lingjing Hutong of Beijing

How can I take a bus from Xi'an to Hukou waterfalls? Can I make it a day trip?

What is the bus schedule from Xi'an and back?

Actually, one day is a little bit tight for the round trip. If you don't have enough time, you are advised to hire a private car directly. It may cost CNY400-500 for the round trip.
For the public transportation, you can take a direct coach from Fangzhicheng Bus Station to Hukou directly. The schedules are 08:00, 13:20 and 14:20. The ticket fare is CNY 114 per person. It takes around 5 hours on the way. About the way back, I didn't find the exact bus schedule. Just hire a private car or share car with other tourists if you didn't catch the bus.
