Last Time Down?

Hi, I'm planning on visiting in October (roughly 11th). My plan is get a hotel near Huayin (Huashan North Station - 20 minutes from the mountain). This will be where I plan to spend the night after the climb. My question is however, what is the last time down the mountain and how long is decent? My main reason for climbing is to visit the Plankroad on the South Peak. So how long from Plankroad to the base? Also how far is Plankroad (in time) from the West Peak as I may be wanting to watch sunset on the West Peak. Is this descent safe to do as it darkens? Also how easy are taxis around the base of the mountain? Mex

It is not suggested that you walk down the mountain after the sunset as the hike takes almost five hours and it is dangerous to walk in the darkness. The sunset time in October is around 17:30-18:30 and the last cable car down the mountain from the West Peak runs at 19:00, so you are advised to catch the last cableway after the sunset, or you may stay overnight on the mountain.

It takes about 4 hours to climb from Yuquanyuan to the North Peak and another 2-3 hours to get to the South Peak, so if you have only one day, you are suggested to take the cable car instead of climbing. Walking from the South Peak to the West Peak only takes around 40 minutes. There are taxis available around the base of the mountain and it is quite easy to get one.
