About:China Student Visa

Can I apply for a Student Visa from a Hong Kong embassy (I'm a British/ UK citizen)

Hi

I am a UK citizen. Next academic year (September 2017 – June 2018) I will be studying at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University as part of a year abroad from my University of Leeds programme in the UK.

In order to enter China I will need a student visa and I understand that Jiao Tong University in Shanghai will send me the invitation letter to their university in July. However in July and August I will be in Hong Kong temporarily (I am not a resident there).

My question is this: Will I be able to apply for a Student X type to mainland China from an embassy in Hong Kong as a British/ UK citizen? Or will I have to do so in my resident country (UK)?

Many Thanks,
Daniel

Daniel, it is possible for you to apply for mainland China student X type from the office of the commissioner of the ministry of foreign affairs of PRC in HK SAR. You can have a try.
