About:144-Hour Visa-Free Transit

We are arriving on royal caribbean ship to Beijing on April 26 and plan to stay 3 days in Beijing

and then fly to Hong kong and then back to New York City. Do we need a visa for the 3 days in Beijing or the 3 days in Hong Kong? We are USA citizen

How can you be arriving on a cruise with Beijing being an inland city and has no ports?
