About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

My scheduled departure time is 1.25 hours after the expiration of the 72 hours.

If I pass through immigration more than 2 hours before that time (i.e. entering the airport transit zone) would that avoid me having to apply for a 30day visa?

If you transit in Beijing, I’m afraid it’s risky. You’d better apply for a visa in advance.

At which chinese city do you transit?
If it's one where the 72h counts from the scheduled arriving time to the departured time you have to leave within 72h.
It doesn't help if you enter the transit zone 2h earlier.

Thanks for your comments. Sorry I meant to state that the airport is Beijing.

Then you should change your flight to an earlier one, or get a visa. Or you risk being denied boarding at your origin.

Well if you transit in Beijing then it doesn't work as the 72h is based on the scheduled arrival and departure time.
