About:240-Hour Visa-Free Transit

IAD->ICN->PVG->ICN

Would this route qualify? My flight will originate from US, and will include a stopover in Korea prior to transiting thru Shanghai and returning to Korea.

No. The Chinese immigration will see this as ICN-PVG-ICN.
