About:72-Hour Visa-Free Transit

Layover of 18 hours in shanghai pu dong travelling to the Philippines

What exactly should we do to check around the city? Are we still gonna need a visa?
Do we still need to check out our checked in luggages and check it in again when we come back?
Thanks

Lin, if the last country you fly from is not Philippines, you can enjoy the 24 hour direct transit in Shanghai. No visa will be required then. You just need to apply for a temporary stay permit which is free of charge inside the airport, and then you can go to the city for a visit. You need to check in again when you come back.
