About:Marco Polo Memorial Museum

Hi there, I am traveling to Shanghai and will be staying with a friend.

My friend is a US citizen but has a residence in Shanghai. Do I still need an invitation letter or is listing her Name, Address, and phone number on the visa application sufficient. Additionally, I am a US citizen working in Japan on a visa, do I have to provide a separate photocopy of my visa for Japan or can I just bring my passport to the embassy.
Thank you!

You need to get this invitation letter if you will stay at her apartment during the trip. You need to take your passport and a copy of all used pages of your passport.

Thank you for your response! Do I need to include her passport information? Again, she is not a Chinese citizen but she has a 10 year visa and a residence in Shanghai. Also, do you mean I need to make photocopies of every page of my passport that has been stamped? Thanks!

Yes, you need to include her passport information on the invitation letter. If she doesn't have a temporary residence permit of China, I cannot guarantee you can apply for the L type with her invitation, but since she has a residence there, you can have a try. You need to provide photocopies of evey page of your passport that has been stamped and the page carrying your bio information.
