I'm a Philippine Passport Holder, do i need a transit visa for staying overnight?

I will be traveling from Vancouver to Manila and arriving Shanghai at 4:45PM and leaves Shanghai at 12:15 AM Do i need to apply a transit visa? or I don't need as long as I'm not going out at the airport?
