Glasses or no glasses on Visa photo

I am wondering on my picture for my Visa to China whether I am supposed to submit a picture that was with or without glasses in the photo? I wear glasses normally! I had just renewed my United States passport but the application did not say that you no longer were supposed to wear glasses at all for the photo! I had to send them another photo without glasses, dark or clear. Thanks !

As far as I know, eyeglasses are allowed except thick-rimmed, tinted or glare glasses.
