About:Chinese Temporary Residence Permit

Didn't check in with police stations within 24 hours of arriving

Is it a big issue that I didn't check into the police station within 24 hours of arriving? I am currently on a Q1 visa and I have a decision to make within the next two weeks of which employment contract to accept. Once this happens, I am sure that employer will manage the process for me. In doing so I still like to understand what happens. My question is, is it the employer's responsibility to take the process of applying for TR or can they just throw it at me and say do it yourself?
Thanks
M

M, you should register at the police station within 24 hours if you enter with a Q1 type.
You should apply for the residence permit on your own.
If you want to work in China, you should have a work Z type, but you said you have a Q1 type. I’m a little bit confused. You’d better confirm that with your employer.

You should register yourself. If you are staying at an international hotel, they will automatically register you when you check-in. If you are staying at a private residence (or some small local hotel) you need to register. I don't think employers typically do the registration and I think it might be harder to coordinate (for example, you may arrive in China on a weekend or during a holiday). Anyways it is usually quick and easy to get registered and it's good to get to know the person/people that do the foreigner registration..
