Source and clarification

Hi there, there is no information about this 144 hour free transit on the chinese visa official website and despite waiting on the phone for over an hour and a half and sending an e-mail, I haven't been able to speak to anyone. I guess i'm just a little worried since my trip is coming up soon and I messed up by forgetting about the visa, but if this is how it seems then I could be very lucky. Is there any official government websites with this information on?

I have a flight landing in Guangzhou from the UK at 18:00 on a Tuesday and my next flight to New Zealand from Guangzhou on the next Monday at 14:30, so just under the 144 hours, just wanted to clarify that this is eligible?
