I am concerned about being on a Yangzte River cruise without other guests that speak English.

The Yangtze River cruise receives foreign visitors speaking English. Besides some of the staff can speak English. The explanation on the crusie will in both Chinese and English. When having the excursions, there will be an English speaking guide accompanying you.
