About:Chinese Embassy in South Korea

Do I need a visa for my transit through China?

I am Canadian citizen living in Korea with an ARC card. I am traveling to Myanmar on Feb 11th, but I have two connecting flights in China both going to Myanmar and coming back to Korea. Also- our flights to Korea were recently changed and it increased our time in China.

I am very confused by the visa requirements. Can you please help me? Do I need a visa?

To Myanmar:
Incheon- Nanjing
Nanjing- Kunming
Kunming- Mandalay

We will spend a total of 20 hours in China with our layovers. We do not plan on leaving the airport.

Back to Korea:
Yangdon-Kunming
Kunming- Shanghai Hongqiao
Shanghai Hongqiao - Seoul Gimpo

The return flight will make me be in China for 37.5 hours. I can stay in the airport, but it would be nice to be able to leave. Although I may not have time to get our visas if it is required.
If I stay in the airport, do I need a visa for that time? Thank you.

Sarah, you can enjoy 24 hour direct transit in Nanjing and Kunming when you fly to Myanmar from Korea.
When you return to Korea from Myanmar, you need to apply for a transit visa for that.

My flights got changed on my way back to Korea and I will be in China for only 20 hours now, so I don't need the visa :)
