Chinese visa for US citizen visiting Malaysia

Hello. I will in Malaysia for six weeks this winter under visa waiver program and would like to visit friends in Beijing for a few days. Will I be able to obtain a tourist visa in Kuala Lumpur to visit China? Will it be the new 10 year visa being issued to US. Citizens? Thanks for your help!

David, yes, you may be able to get it in Kuala Lumpur, but I cannot tell you for sure that you can apply for a 10-year one in a third country. Just give it a try, or you can apply for the 10-year one in your home country.
